Nearly one hundred years ago, Franz Otto Klein, and his wife, Edith, hoped to recreate an essential oil blend similar to one found at Franz's favorite spa, Baden Baden, after the spa announced the discontinuation of their signature blend. Franz and Edith experimented with blend after blend using plants from their garden that had been carefully cultivated by the previous occupants who were Cistercian apothecaries. After two years of experimentation, they perfected the oil in 1931 and the brand has continued to evolve since then.
